Love this author! The books are, in my opinion, very well written. Or at least in the style that resonates with me. I especially love Kate and Ruger. Great team with an awesome dog. I highly recommend every single book. Enjoy, I did!

I have enjoyed reading three out of the four books in this series. I have read the first and second and fourth books and I'm getting ready to read the third installment. I love the twists and turns and the usually surprise endings. Having read the fourth books first, I find it funny that the character didn't keep Ruger closer to her from the beginning. I'm sure I will find out the reason in book three. Keep up the great work! I have enjoyed your writing!

This can be read as a stand-alone book even though this is book 4 in a series as this book starts the story line arc for US Navy/NCIS Special Agent Mira Ellis and her new partner; undercover? NCIS? ex? Navy SEAL/ ex? Military Intelligence special agent, Sam Riyad.
From the moment they meet, there is suspicion on both sides. Sam has confidential information about Mira's past and makes snap judgements about her trust worthiness. Mira is dealing with a case that merges her past and present and Sam's questionable people skills and lack of investigative skills for an NCIS agent raises a lot of red flags in Mira's mind about who he is and who he is working for. With information not being released to Mira directly, Mira relies on her investigative skills and her own connections to chase the information which results in a great story. This is a thriller that delivers. I was engaged with the story line and the characters. A great read. 5 stars. I look forward to reading the next book in this series as there are still loose ends to chase before this case is wrapped up and the working partnership between Mira and Sam is about to get personal.

Candace Irving's writing not only keeps you throughly engaged and guessing until the very end but her descriptive style paints a picture so detailed that it is like watching a movie not only reading a book.
Brava Candace on another must read!

I’m entranced by the character development in these books. This latest did not disappoint. Kate has grown in very relatable and realistic ways that make her feel wholly real. I may be halfway in love with Arash and would work for Lou any day of the week. More importantly there is no cliche “let’s have the heroine continue her suffering” nonsense authors often rely on to heighten the tension. Kate has done the only healthy thing, confronted her demons head on and walked through the dark into the light. This gives the reader the sense that hope and recovery are possible. Can’t wait for the next glimpse!
